Egypt is really the land of creators, Scientists, innovators, artists, athletes … The current famous example we live now is Mo. Salah, The Egyptian pharaoh in the world of football.
There is also the creator Deaf in Robotics, Mohamed Salah who borned and live in Etay El-Baroud, Behera, Egypt.
Although his difficulties in communication with the hearing persons in the community, he went to Alexandria At ASDAA’ Association for Sophisticating the Deaf with daily effort for travelling from Etay to Alexandria, that he insisted to be an innovative human to improve that he has abilities surpass his disability.
He began his activity by participating in Egyptian Olympiad for Informatics (EOI) at Arab Academy for Science and Technology (AAST) with achieving gold, silver and bronze medals at three competitions from 2003 at 2005.
Then he began his journey in the world of Robot designing and programming at ASDAA’ Association with full sponsored by Regional Informatic Center (RIC) at Arab Academy for Science and Technology (AAST), that Deaf kids participated at robot competitions in Egypt, Japan, Jordan, Turkey and USA achieving the awards of best team work, robot design, robot project and best training and supervision with award of excellence and challenge ..
That was an unprecedented breakthrough for the Deaf kids in the field of robotics which led to an intellectually change for the Deaf inthere selves with improving the awareness of the community to the Deaf.
Salah with his fascination toward the world of robotics, he stayed alone with the components of LEGO motors, sensors, bricks … etc. for long hours to design and program robot, to convert these parts of LEGO into robot device with self movement to achieve its targets.
Salah began his first initiative as robot instructor and coach for team of Deaf kids on 2012, that his team got the first place for best team work among the teams of hearing kids, followed by his participation in world Robot Olympiad (WRO) to get the second place for senior category.
On 2013 he participated in First LEGO League robot competition.His team of Deaf kids got the first place award for best robot project in Alexandria, then the go the first place for best robot performance among 70 teams of hearing kids .. So, he began his international participation with his team of Deaf kids “Horse power in the Asian FLL robot competition in Australia to get the award of first place for the best team work, award of the judge committee in robot designing and the best robot project among 70 teams of Asian” all of them are hearing kids !!!
These achievement followed with more innovation by getting the first place in Japanese Sumo robot, the first place on 2015 in FLL – Egypt among 70 teams, on 2016 he got the first place in football Robot followed by excellence participation in robot competition in Indie.
He also got the First place in FLL robot competition in Egypt on 2017 among 120 teams, following by excellence robot performance in WRO on 2019 in Cost Rica and on 2019 in Thailand.
He also participation in Robot challenge competition in Egypt and got the first place in Bowling Robot competition at AAST.
On of his wonderful robot projects is Bat Car which is presented for project of Egypt by one of his team member in the Celebration of the initiative of Ministry of communication &Information Technology “the pioneers of Future Technology” on 2017
Mohamed Salah in pressed me in his project “Bat Car” which is (It is a car that has two ultrasonic sensors. The ultrasonic sensor works same that the sensors in the bat’s ear which always places a detect distance between the car behind it and the car in front of it and stops if necessary. It is suggested that the car be connected to a GPS device that allows the vehicle to walk on the road without driver and without accidents).
Salah depended on himself to have his unique experience in robot designing & programming. He has his special spirit of challenge to be the first best deaf instructor in robotics for deaf kids.
I asked him about the similarity of the name between his and Mohamed Salah, the world’s pharach of Egypt in football..
He smiled and reply by sign language saying I’m so happy to have the same name of the famous Egyptian player of football in the world.
Mo. Salah plays the football by his feet to dazzle the world ..
I participate also in the competition of football robot, but I design and programe the goal and the player as robots and leave them in the playground of football robot to get high score and many goals ..my robots of football dazzle also all Judges, participations, competitions and all the organizers of robot competition in Egypt and worldwide.
About his vision and aspirations for the future .. He look to me with his smiling face and said by his wonderful Sign language: I’m proud that I have achieved a lot of creativity and excellence in the field of robotics ..By our fingers we talk by Sign language .. These fingers also have our vocabulary of robot expressions and programing codes to be part of our language.
We are the Egyptian Deaf citizens who raised Egyptian play with our own hands and our abilities in USA, Australia, Japan, Jordan, Indonisia, Costa Rica, Thailand and many other countries.
We proude that we are the best ambassadors of Egypt in the world of robotics.
Through my meeting with Salah and other members of deaf kids .. I impressed by the love between them ..it’s not the Sign language which combines between them .. It’s the Sign language challenge, the language of excellence which all together. It’s the power of motivation inside them which provide them with the ability to have their carrier in the world of Robotics.
He’s Mohamed Salah the Deaf innovator in robotics who create units of robotics players and goals of football to play their matches in the playground only followedup their performance on the playground with nointervention from his side. It’s really creative over creativity and insiting for ingenuity& excellence.
Salah, this deaf Egyptian innovater is married &has 2 children .. He is specialist in teaching Media, but he practice his hobby in robotics with love ..he is really a honor model of Egyptian Deaf innovator.
